Our Staff
Karen "Kaz" Turner M.A.M.S, Owner: Karen began studying and practicing the classical style of riding at the age of six. Originally from the United Kingdom, she has over 40 years of experience in the horse world, and a degree in business. She is well rounded in knowledge having trained and participated in show jumping, three-day eventing, in-hand showing, and driving, just to name a few. She is a trained stallion handler, making breeding a breeze at the barn. Her skills are too countless to list, but upon meeting her, you will see her knowledge and love for horses. This is what Karen was meant to do. "We run our barn on an informal basis, no frills just good honest horsemanship".
Trevor Turner A.I.A.T, Owner: Also a native to the United Kingdom, trained as a Reproductive Toxicologist, and Karen's other half, Trevor has almost twenty years experience in the horse world. He has trained all of his own horses and recently dabbled into the world of driving. Trevor is also trained in the classical style of riding and extremely knowledgeable in the areas of breeding. He also has a vast knowledge about the land and makes sure that everything is in tip-top condition on the farm.
Kris Garhart, Barn Manager A native of Colorado, Kris has been dabbling with horses since she was a child. She also has a background as a Veterinary Technician and has much experience in the breeding, foaling and mare care. She is a welcome and valued new edition to our family.
Merlissa Plytynski, Assistant Instructor: Merlissa has 12 years experience in Hunter/Jumper and classical riding. She has recently graduated with an Equine Science & Management degree from Delaware Valley College. She has solid principals of riding, safety and education.
Sarah Ashbury, Assistant Instructor
Sara has also been experienced in the Hunter/Jumper field and is another convert to Classically based riding. Another Graduate of Delaware Valley Collage Sarah has the same Safety and Fun basis that we all have.
Todal-y Stables would like to introduce two new members of the training staff
Michelle Murray, Assistant Instructor
Michelle is a full time teacher and has been "doing the horse thing" for many many years. She was trained in the art of Western Riding by Ami Beauman and competed to a high level. Having retrained as a classical English rider she has developed her skills as an Assistant Instructor to cover both English and Western Riding. She also has mission of safety and fun as her lessons are both interesting and fun for all ages.
Heather J Rufolo, Assistant Jumping Instructor Heather has a background in high level jumping and with hunters. She will be offering a limited number of places to jumpers either with or without their own horses. Heather has given us the ability to offer training to non-barn members with horses to bring them and learn from her expertise. (more information to follow).
Our staff is trained in many areas, all have gravitated toward the Classical seat. This they have hybridized toward the normal show areas to make your riding/showing experience safer and more fun. Each training session is geared to your individual level and we match you with a horse that will improve your riding level, not a horse that will automatically do the requested thing. Yes here you have to work hard to learn to ride.
A love for horses, fun and an open dialogue on training and technique is paramount here at Todal-y. You can be sure that you and your horse are in the best hands at Todal-y Stables.
Should you require lessons or training in any field either human or equine please contact us for information and appointments.
